Kathryn Flynn Michaels, B.F.A., L.M.S.W., L.H., N.L.P.M.P. , E.M.D.R. Cert, Rev.

Kathryn Flynn Michaels has studied various healing traditions for over 37 years and has been committed to the exploration, empowerment and health of the human spirit. She attended Johns Hopkins University and NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she studied writing, international relations, and film-making. She worked with Barbara Marx Hubbard on her documentary project, "The Evolution of Human Consciousness." She later returned to NYU and received her masters degree and license in clinical social work.

Working to teach empowerment tools to her clients individually and in groups, she integrated contemporary clinical skills with modalities from many traditions. Specializing in trauma , P.T.S.D. Disorders, and recovery from addictions,  she began to notice dramatic shifts in people using the wisdom teachings she received from various teachers. These practices include mindfulness meditation, guided imagery, hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming,  EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and Shamanic practices.

Kathryn studied with many medicine people, including the acclaimed Moche healers Dona Ysabel & Olinda (to whom she is apprenticed in the Mesada San Pedro ceremony), Incan elders Don Umberto and Dona Bernadina (in picture below), Don Martin "El Condor", Don Francisco Flores, Mohawk stonekeeper Barbara Little Bear, Ecuadorian Yachak Don Jorge Tamayo, , Dr. Alberto Villoldo, Tara Brach, Sandra Ingerman, Donna Eden, David Nichtern, Hank Wesselman, Suzanne Northrop,and John Perkins, to name a few. Initiated in the Andean tradition, she received the sacred rites (Karpays), including  those of the Earthkeepers, Munay Ki,  and Don Martin's Hatun Karpay. She, and her partner, Michael Andrews, are the Twins only apprenticed San Pedro healers in the USA, having been chosen by them to carry on their work. They are honored to have been presented with the Twins personal protection artes.

Kathryn is also a Master Practitioner of NeuroLinguistic Programing & Ericksonian hypnosis through the NLP Center of NYC, and completed her study in Clinical Hypnosis with Madeleine Lawrence Ph.d, with  the National Guild of Hypnotists. She is registered in level One E.M.D.R taught by Dr Frances Shapiro. Kathryn is also a graduate of the Four Winds Healing the Light Body School, a certified Dying Consciously Instructor and an non-denominational minister. In addition, she was the creator of Transformational Health Consulting, which advised on integrative alternatives to creating vibrant health, as well as positive holistic options for those with cancer. She founded Earthkeepers Foundation in 2007. Kathryn currently resides in the New Hampshire Sea Coast, while maintaining a presence in New York City, where she grew up and lived most of her life.

She took a sabbstical in 2017 to work in local politics, becoming a local team leader for a Presidential candidate, the chair of her local Democratic party, and running for State Representative. She is committed to the tenants of democracy and a government of the people and FOR the people.

She works on developing consciousness raising technologies, conducts transformational groups, sees private clients, teaches, creates her own herbal and skin care remedies,  and has the honor of being the founder & Director of Earthkeepers Foundation.

What is energy medicine and
shamanic healing?

Indigenous healers have always understood that we live in a world of energy- all matter around us and within us in energy in motion.  Our energetic field, often referred to as an aura, is  the architect which creates and informs our physical  form. In order to heal deeply from illness and emotional issues one needs to release their imprint from the energetic field;  This allows dramatic changes in the
physical body as  well as in one's  life.  

Traditional Western medicine attempts to  heal from the inside out, which we are discovering is a limited approach to health. If you have an ulcer, you ingest a pill and change your diet. But this is an incomplete way to deal with the discordant energy  which caused the condition. This is why holistic practices are flourishing. Clinical  therapists are now integrating energy medicine  into their work  because it is so
effective.   If  the energetic body is re-balanced ,the physical, emotional, and spiritual body follows.

In an energy medicine session, a practitioner with clinical skills will talk to you to identify what you want to work on as well as what needs  to be shifted to create the greatest positive change in your life. Your field will then be tested and the appropriate intervention  implemented. As in acupuncture, shamanic practitioners work along the major nerve plexuses in the body which are commonly known as
"chakras". This mostly involves lying down in a relaxed state, with occasional light touch to the head, as the energy body is re-balanced. Other techniques may involve standing while discharging excessive or static energy from the meridians. Most  shamanic practitioners use sacred objects handed down to them from their teachers to help move the energy.

These techniques have been given many different names by different teachers- but they all do the same thing- remove energy that no longer serves us, and bring in new energy  which does. Energy medicine also infuses us with the full spectrum of energy, joy, and health which is our birthright.  

Some names given to these techniques in popular media are:  illumination, soul retrieval, destiny retrieval, , extraction work. Regardless of name, people find the results are long-lasting and life-changing.

Why is ceremony and ritual so important ?

"...rituals are about healing, acknowledgment of people and their gifts, and making spirit visible or tangible.
A ritual is a ceremony in which we call in Spirit to be the driving force, the overseer of our activities..It is a way for us to find our way to wholeness, peace, self-acceptance, and acceptance of others. Ritual allows us to connect
with the self, the community, and the natural forces around us. Ritual helps us to remove blocks between us and our true spirit.

The purpose of ritual is to take us to a place of self-discovery and mastery. In this sense ritual is to the soul what food is the physical body......Ritual is not limited to just indigenous people; it is the language of spirit, and has a universal dimension to it."

The workshop was an incredible adventure (I can't believe it was only 5 days!), and your masculine and feminine exercises were an
